BY JST NEWS

Stopover Buddy” is Icelandair’s code for your local guide, for free.

Following an offer for transatlantic passengers to make layovers in Iceland for up to seven days at zero additional cost, Icelandicair is now also offering passengers someone to hang out with for free.

From now, through April 30, Iceland’s main carrier is giving you the option of a “Stopover Buddy” so you can have someone to whale watch, experience the geysers, and soak in the blue lagoon with.

For travelers who hate dining alone in a restaurant, your Stopover Buddy can accompany your meal. For travelers who hate random strangers, don’t fret, Stopover Buddies are actual airline employees.

Catered to different categories, there are adventure, culture, food, health, lifestyle, and nature buddies. If you want to meet the CEO of Icelandair, Birkir Hólm Guðnason, it is entirely possible too.

This is the perfect tie-in for the airline to boost Iceland’s tourism industry. We think we just found the perfect excuse to plan a trip to Iceland. Like…now!
