Indulge in multicultural cuisine and New American classics. NYC is full of world-renowned restaurants ready for you to devour. We’ve hand-picked local favorites focusing on creativity, stories and fresh produce. Bon appetit!

1. Balthazar Restaurant – Best Brasseries in Soho

$$$$ 80 Spring St, New York, NY 10012, United States (map, website)

map balthazar nycRestauranteur Keith McNally has opened many restaurants in Manhattan but there’s none more classically Soho than the most renowned under his belt: Balthazar. A personal favorite of mine as well, start with a fresh plate of oysters, then move on to Eggs Bella Donna (poached eggs, polenta, pancetta, and tomato) with a glass of chilled champagne (Taittinger Champagne “Cuvée Prestige” Brut, by the glass.)

Best part about this delectable French bistrot is that it’s opened from 7:30am to midnight (1am on Fridays and Saturdays.)

2. The Spotted Pig – Best Gastropub in West Village

map the spotted pig restaurant nycAhh…thank you April Bloomfield! The British chef’s Michelin-star gastropub is proof that superbly delicious food can be so much fun! While many consider The Spotted Pig as one of the most influential restaurants in the last 20 years with its European-inspired dishes. When you’re sitting at a table, don’t miss out on: chicken-liver toast and gnudi. If you’re dying to “pig out” (no pun intended) with a satiating burger, this is the perfect restaurant to dive right in!

P.S. Travelers – This restaurant doesn’t take reservations, and it’s an expectedly popular hotspot. So be prepared!

Momofuku Noodle Bar is profoundly delicious, vastly creative and best of all – it’s totally affordable. Craving for fantastic Asian cuisine in NYC? His buns and ramen are not to be missed.

5. Gramercy Tavern – Best Farm-to-Table Fine Dining

$$$$ 42 E 20th St, New York, NY 10003 (map, website)

map gramercy tavern nyc restaurantOpened in 1994, Gramercy Tavern continues to be one of the leading seasonal fine dining restaurants in the Big Apple. Owned by Danny Meyer and chef/partner Michael Anthony and Kevin Mahan, GT’s farm-to-table cuisine is the ultimate choice for a sumptuous lunch or a romantic dinner. The New American restaurant’s menu changes every season, its neo-Colonial interior design is rustic elegant.

“The Tavern” offers an à la carte menu throughout the day, featuring dishes that emphasize wood-burning grill. The walk-in only restaurant is open throughout the day with a more relaxed atmosphere.

The “Dining Room” is sophisticated and features fiercely seasonal tasting and fixed-price menus, with an à la carte menu also offered at lunch. Reservations are highly recommended.
