If you’ve been trippin’ in Sydney lately, then you should know all about Vivid – an annual outdoor lighting festival with gorgeous light installations and projections.

This year, the festival is from May 22 – June 8, with must-see spots in Central Park, Chatswood, University of Sydney, around the CBD, Darling Harbour and The Rocks. There are also live performances from local and international musicians and an ideas exchange forum featuring public talks and debates from leading creative thinkers.

The centerpiece of Vivid Sydney is the light sculptures, multimedia interactive work and building projections that transform various buildings and landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge in and around the Sydney CBD into an outdoor night time canvas of art. There are more than 60 light installations illuminating the entire city.

The idea behind Vivid is that art is for everyone. The festival has been so popular that each year, the venues keep growing while 1.43 million people attended last year. Central Park features the creativity of street artists with a gorgeous silent disco by mobs of fans.

Vivid gives art back to the people, and it’s grown so large that it’s intended for you to enjoy numerous light installations not in one night, but in as many nights as you possible can and want to.
