Eiffel Tower Goes Dark In Memorium

It almost never happens, until Thursday night.

At 2 p.m. ET, the Eiffel Tower shut off its sparkling lights paying tribute to the victims in this week’s “terror attack” in Paris, causing the death of 12 people.

Silence spread throughout the City of Light as people across the world mourned for the lives lost during the horrific gun shooting at the office of French satirical newspaper, Charlie Hebdo.

Notre Dame Cathedral’s bells struck, casting solemn throughout a city weathered by tragedy in midst of winter rain.

Vigils have been held at Place de la Republique, drawing 35,000 crowds paying respect for the victims, but more significantly, for freedom of the press which has risen as a global controversy resulting in a heated aftermath from the attack.

Currently, both brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi who were gunmen of the shooting, have been killed by security forces. Hostages were being held at a kosher grocery store in eastern part of Paris near Porte de Vincennes.
