How Rad Are Instagram’s New Filters?

Slumber, Arden, Crema, Ludwig, Perpetua…oh my!

If you don’t know the new lingo by now, clearly you’ve been living under a giant social media rock. For the first time in two years, Instagram added five new filters and they’re awesomely rad!

On Tuesday, the photo-sharing app unveiled an update on both iOS and Android with new filters and you can even play around with how filters appear.

Back in December 2012, Instagram added Mayfair ad Willow filters that have been many traveler’s favorite go-to options. Instagram says that the new filters were created to keep up with changing photography trends. It stated in its blogpost:

Photography trends have evolved, and the capabilities of the camera on your phone have vastly improved. We’ve seen tremendous creativity within the community, not only in the moments they share, but in the time spent carefully composing and editing photos and videos to bring out emotions and make them beautiful.

With now a total of 24 filters, the filter tray also carries a different look with tiny squares of previews so you can see what each filter will look like before committing to it. There’s also a “Manage” section on the filter tray where you can customize and reorder your filers or hide the ones you never seem to use.

We love the new filters so much that we can’t help but share with you some captures from around the world:

Ludwig: Hong Kong.

They’re awesome! I didn’t like to old ones too much, but the new ones I quite like 🙂
